Frequently Asked Questions
How it works
Q: How do you adjust the hem lengths?
A: There are buttons on the inside lining of the dress and elastic loops at the hem of the dress that allow you to button the hem up. The shape of the dress remains a perfect bubble shape while switching between mini and mid-lengths.
Q: How do you attach the different straps?
A: There are elastic loops sewn onto each strap and sleeve that attach to buttons on the top band of the dress and top. The straps and sleeves button off easily, but are secure for all-day wear when buttoned on.
Q: Are the straps for the dress the same for the top?
A: The straps and sleeves that attach to the dress also attach to the top, which is what allows for the ultimate versatility while conserving resources.
Q: Is the top included with The Promise Dress?
A: Yes! A top comes with The Promise Dress for denim and white cotton. Tops are not included in made-to-order fabrics (leather, taffeta)
Q: Do different sleeve styles come with different fabrics?
A: Yes, each fabrication of The Promise Dress has its own specific set of sleeve styles. For example, the sleeve sets that come with the white cotton do not come with the denim, and vice versa. Regardless, each Promise Dress comes with multiple sleeves in order to create 23+ looks in one (excluding made-to-order).
Q: How does sizing work?
A: The Promise Dress is offered in two sizes: XS/S and M/L because the elastic top and bottom bands and bubble shape fit a range of sizes. If you have questions for which would fit you best, please email info@jaydaydressco.com.
Sustainability
Q: How does Jay Day measure its sustainability?
A: Jay Day takes a multi-prong approach to ensure the most environmentally sustainable practices and products.
Design: We believe the best way to reduce environmental damage in fashion are designs that limit the amount of resources used and to consume less as both a business and shopper. The Promise Dress is one design that gives 23+ unique outfits in one which gives you more with less, covering off on conserving resources as well as providing the ‘new’ and ‘variety’ that fashion-conscious shoppers love.
Labor: Jay Day prioritizes ethical labor practices in our sustainability efforts. All Promise Dresses are 100% Made in the USA by highly-skilled, fairly-compensated seamstresses. Every manufacturer and working area is often visited by our team. At this point, our manufacturers and sewers are like family!
Materials: Jay Day uses deadstock fabrics for The Promise Dress (excluding Made-to-Order dresses). The deadstock fabric used for our shell and lining fabrics in our ready-to-wear means that the fabric is surplus from other designers or fabric mills who would otherwise send the surplus to a landfill where it would be incinerated. The elastic used is milled and woven right in Downtown Los Angeles and all other trimmings such as buttons and labels are purchased from local companies to support the local economy.
Returns
Q: How do returns work?
